The sale by Landcorp of two blocks of land significant to Maori, has been deferred for a year.
The State Owned Enterprises Minister, Trevor Mallard, says the deferral will give the Government time to review Landcorp's procedures.
Last month the Government announced it was reviewing the sales process of land held by State Owned Enterprises and Crown Entities after Landcorp's plans to sell Whenuakite Station on the Coromandel Peninsula sparked an occupation by Hauraki iwi, who claim the land is part of their Treaty of Waitangi claim.
Now Landcorp has announced it will defer the sale of Whenuakite along with a proposed sale of Rangiputa in Northland while the review is conducted.
Mr Mallard says the deferral follows discussions with members of Labour's Maori caucus who wanted the sales put on hold for a year.
