Thursday 13th March 2003
ARENA, along with other groups and organizations,
is participating in an international day of action in opposition to the GATS
(General Agreement on Trade in Services)
(You will have had a couple of Action Alerts on GATs recently)
We are asking you to get involved in the
day of action.
On our website at www.arena.org.nz/gatsact.htm are
letters you can send to the Prime Minister, and you local MP and Mayor. Can you send the letters by email or fax on
the 13th March. We are
hoping to get 100s of people to send letters to the PM on that day.
It is also a good time to send a letter
to the editor of your local paper and for those who are not too shy, phone up
the local talkback. You don’t have to
be an expert on GATS! You can talk
about why the NZ Government is intending to make offers under GATS without
having done any analysis of the impacts on our basic services, or consulting
with people most effected.
Have a look at the fact sheets on the
website, they will help give you information for the letters to the editor and
talkback. Or email me at arena.nz@clear.net.nz
and I will send you some info.
PLEASE join in the International Day of
Action on the 13th March.
